For the Children’s Museum of Denver
THE PROJECT: To accommodate the temporary closure of the Young Child space for a two-year renovation period, the Museum sought a versatile area where children aged 0-3 could safely engage in play. In close collaboration with the Education Team, our design prioritized elements tailored to promote optimal development during these crucial early years. Emphasizing safety amidst pandemic concerns, every aspect of the design met rigorous health and safety standards.
MATERIALS: Plywood, 2x4s, Paint, Mirror, Cushions, Fabric, String, Foam Mats
MY ROLE: Spatial design, Research, Visualization, Fabrication, Installation
Original Space
A transient space for meetings and event staging. Compared to the rest of the museum this space lacked joy and energy.
Concept
Desert inspired colors for a relaxing, yet vibrant space for babies and their adults to play and learn safely. Everything on the floor is moveable to allow the space to continue to be used for events as needed.
Two whimsical mobile-style chandeliers hang from the ceilings. This creates a beautiful interaction as caregivers will raise up the babies to look at the mobile together. Dancing fairy lights hidden under the fluffy yarn add another layer of excitement and wonder for the babies.
